Ponctuations offers a new look at small leather goods by mixing leather traditions and artisanal techniques. Functional, fun and unisex, the leather accessories designed by Ponctuations support our new uses and our nomadic lives, our lifestyle habits concerned with multi-use, beauty combined with practicality.
After several years spent in major French luxury houses, two friends decided to combine the passion of one and the enthusiasm of the other around a common project. 2020 and its events give them the creative scope possible to create pieces that resemble them.
Thanks to the experience of one in luxury leather goods, they avoid many mistakes and make strong commitments: favoring short circuits, between tanneries and workshops, and favoring reasoned production, in small series, which reconciles high-end standards and affordable prices.
The skins, revalued from waste from the food industry, come from cows and calves raised in Europe. The leathers all benefit from mineral tanning, which allows Ponctuations accessories to be doubly durable: they are ultra-resistant to the vagaries of time while being responsible (the tanneries are certified by the Leather Working Group, which guarantees transparency and durability).
Ponctuations is like the final point of a silhouette. Each accessory enhances what already exists thanks to the quality of its leather and the creative materials that accompany it. This dialogue established between leather and unexpected materials such as bandana or raffia brings as much humor as sophistication, the true identity of the brand.
Ponctuations offers classic accessories that are not, versatile, for all styles.
Designer
MATHIEU DESMET
After a Diploma in accessories design at the IFM, Mathieu Desmet began his career at Louis Vuitton as a shoe designer. His attention to detail and creativity won over the teams within which he worked for a little over 4 years, alongside Marc Jacobs for the women's collections and Kim Jones for the men's collections.
A lover of beautiful materials and passionate about working with leather, he entered the world of leather goods by handcrafting card holders, bell key rings and other small accessories for his friends.
It was in 2020 that Mathieu thought about making this hobby a larger project. It would be through a brand that resembled him, Ponctuations . Naturally, it took up all of his creative obsessions.
International influences, the boyscout universe, craftsmanship, playfulness and the desire for well-made products. Ponctuations accessories are therefore imbued with Americana aesthetics, French nonchalance and folklore. Alongside his work as a freelance shoe designer for French fashion houses, he developed the first Ponctuations pieces with a leather goods workshop in Portugal.
For this first line, the Bandana appears as an obvious choice. It is hand-woven on each of the pieces. A few shades of color for a touch of playfulness and for the practical side, leather goods that free the hands. A desire for accessories worn around the neck like modern amulets that punctuate the silhouette.
